Any doubts that soda is front and center in the War on Obesity? If so, you can put those doubts to rest right now. The latest research, from Frank B Hu, MD, PhD, study lead author and Professor of nutrition and epidemiology in the Harvard School of Public Health, says “men who drank a 12-ounce sugar-sweetened beverage a day had a 20 percent higher risk of heart disease compared to men who didn’t drink any sugar-sweetened drinks.” Gee, I think what we ordinary mortals need is a Death Chart just to keep up with all these killer foods and beverages the researchers are suddenly discovering, you know, something that shows how much of what food or beverage we can consume without risking early departure from this screwball planet, not that that’s a bad thing.
